The export-oriented RMG sector in Bangladesh started as a small non-traditional export sector in the late 1970s. Within three decades, RMG has transformed itself into the country’s highest revenue generating sector, contributing more than 80 percent of Bangladesh’s total exports, making Bangladesh one of the largest garment exporter of the world. As textile & garment industry in Bangladesh continues expansion, the demand for advanced machinery and technology is on the rise. During last decade Bangladesh has imported textile & garment making machineries worth of around 6.2 billion USD. Bangladesh's overall imports grew by 14.20 percent in the first four months of the current fiscal year. Such a big amount of investment has been done in terms of capital machinery that in turns shows Bangladesh’s increasing capacity in producing textile & garments.
